harlem beat #10

1. at some point the waiting has to stop.it's starting to kick me in the gut that 'at some point' is actually now you piece of garbage.
2. talking down on myself isn't helping my self-esteem. they told me to be nice.
okay then: 'it's starting to kick me in the gut that 'at some point' is actually now you piece of pretty garbage.'

how's that?
3. being sarcastic also doesn't help
4. can't help it. am already giving up on the human race that it's actually blissful
5. and now i'm just reciting over-used lines.love it.
6. inward is the nicest place ever, but also the most dangerous
7. being un-judgemental is one of the nicest feelings
8. green eyes are pretty but also scary
9. unexpected leaves are also interesting but shallow when expected nonstop
10. light-reading mangas that always matches current condition.hard.
and it's not even funny anymore. (today's was harlem beat #10 of all stories)
11. encrypting words obsessively and paranoid for others, to a point where even you won't understand a single word when you re-read them someday in the future

Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji)

borrowed random manga from GB, one of them being "Black Butler".
remembered to post backtrack on a certain scene from looooong ago.
remembered to write how much this manga caught me off guard with it's
real theme.
first, keep in mind that the covers look like this:

and the characters mostly look like this:

see, we first start out with this oh, it's some posh, costume-y, victorian era 'serial cantik' type of manga..oh the author is a woman. that explains the very pretty designed characters and elaborate details--my gosh, the food.

ugh, must prepare for some...unwanted themes in the future. with the level of suggested intimacy between Ciel and Sabastian, we could see where this is going.dammit, why.

ah. skillful-serious, but humorous! oh so it's that type of 'serial cantik'.

wait, what? there's actually a serious serious plot here..?

whoa, what the--

WTF,
crott?? actual GORE
??!?!

holy crap, this is AWESOME.
i do love my costumes, so yeah.

yay, new manga!

Kuroshitsuji chapter 57

Elizabeth Middleford.
from nauseatingly-sugary-'Taste Like Diabetes'-noisy-annoying brat...

...to
complete and utter awesomeness.
(introduced in chapter 2, went all swords woman in chapter 57. very large time gap for a reveal.)

this is seriously uncool ver.2

the universal formula in any super-power themed story:
power-ups = a level-up in coolness.

this clearly isn't cool.at all.
and his "cool" proclamation line opening doesn't even help at all. because BAM :

YEAAAAAAHHHHH.
my geek senses are all tingling with joy and tears.

this is seriously uncool

you know how in mangas where at some point the characters all get a level-up in power and/or a weapon upgrade? well katekyo hitman reborn decided to give mukuro this:
earrings.
yes. how very macho.
but then again this is katekyo where the guys are all pretty and fan service-y.....
still, an earring as an upgraded 'weapon' on a guy? seriously uncool.

super curang ampe pusing

after a long time of absence in reading, it already progressed to this far...

cccrrrrraaaapp...he has to come up with something so chotastic in order to top it all up and create some climatic ending....else--in the lovely words of tvtropes.org respectfully--ending up with a lame pile of narm.

ONE PIECE

yes luffy, go tame the kraken.

...and so on and so forth.

just keeps getting better and better these days! ya-hah!
i MUST get the color walk 4: EAGLE! and rumor has it color walk 5 is about to come out.
MARI MENABUNG!!

also goes for the continuous ones i've been reading (with the ultimate exception of
bleach).

hope that whatever i end up doing in the future, i can still have time (tch, of course.) to read all of them and all the potentially good new ones to come :D.

and for one piece specifically , i must thank my friend betet for it, who bought the first volume asal-asalan but ironically never continued reading it beyond the first 10 volumes. hahaha

oh that hit the spot

until now i'm still not sure why i was laughing like an idiot so much it brought tears to my eyes. could be one of those things, that "hits the spot at the right timing" thing... so it could possibly not be funny to others except for the party encountering the situation. hahahaha

on tvtropes.org that i stumbled upon (yay, i found it again!) were situations in mangas under the label "it got worse":
  • on Bleach: Bleach probably sets the new record for most iterations of "got worse" in a single 20 page issue, with the release of chapter 364. Two of the best captains get downed in 3 pages, without any buildup or warning. Then two of the best Espada are revealed to still be alive in another 4 pages. Then Aizen, Tosen, and Gin are freed from the Blazing Fortress that Yamamoto had trapped them in at the start of the fight by the weirdass thing that Wonderweiss came in with, free to do as they please, and right in front of Kira and several of his injured buddies. While the last page hints at a Big Damn Heroes moment by a certain third party, it's going to be have to be pretty damn big to make a difference at this point.
    • Let's put it this way: Tite Kubo is in love with the Big Damn Heroes trope. However, in order for Big Damn Heroes to be required, things must first look very bleak indeed. Thus, events in Bleach tend to get constantly worse until someone shows up to save the day, at which point things briefly get better before quickly going to Hell again in order to set it up for someone new to come save the day.
      • That "oh shit" moment of Aizen's? Yeah, that was actually Hinamori getting shanked, while Aizen sauntered off to kill all the helpless vice-captains.
      • Those vice-captains? It was actually three CAPTAINS and the Vizard leader... In one move... Ouch.
    • In chapter 406, Aizen drops Isshin, Urahara and Yoruichi in one shot, and then goes to the Soul Society to try and destroy Karakura Town. All we know now is that Isshin is alive, and that Aizen has a mullet.
  • on Naruto: In Naruto this occurs during Pain's invasion of Konoha. Having already killed Jiraiya and coerced Sasuke into joining him, he then runs amuck, tearing souls out of people, launching massive amounts of ordinance at homes and orphanages, summoning monstrosities, and disturbing the peace. He confronts Tsunade and proceeds to rip the soul out of Shizune, gaining the hidden location of Naruto. The village is in ruins, shinobi are dead, and the secret they tried to protect is lost to the Big Bad. And then Pain NUKES KONOHA.
  • on One Piece: During the One Piece Sabaody Archipelago arc, the Marine Admiral and his subordinates are picking the Straw Hats apart one by one. And then Bartholomew Kuma shows up to utterly annihilate them.
    • Think rock bottom has been reached? Oh ho, think again. The whole Whitebeard War arc is pretty much one big It Got Worse, and we have still yet to reach the Godzilla Threshold.

full metal alchemist :(

i still can, and i bet for a long time, i will never be able to grasp the concept of endings and why we all eventually have to move on.
they say that the painful shit in endings will help build yourself into a better person and that we shouldn't dawdle on the past.
i understand all this, i really do, but i just can't accept it now.
maybe not ever, i dunno.
call me immature, whatever, but if i can't accept it (yet) then i just can't. period.
i just can't understand why anything has to end. why? why does it have to?
but without no ending it will be boring so i'm still not sure why i'm thinking like this.
both contradicting thoughts, which i get, i just don't have any idea why it keeps nagging in my gut so much, that i refuse to accept it, i just can't.

i was once told that i'm the type of person that hangs on to the past too much.
the positive thing is that by being this kind of person, i tend to appreciate the value and effort of things, i can help people by reminding them of the good and cool (and often stupid) things they have done when they need it at their lowest days.
i tend to treasure these things. sometimes waaay to well, its suffocating.

aand that's where we get to the negative effects : because all that data takes up too much of my memory space, i tend to unconsciously block out new knowledge etc that i'm supposed to remember. also, that this has turned me into a, um, grudging person?
see, when people do me wrong (and i lack the correct actions to spit out in defense, hence, i tend to end up just standing there like some idiot), i tend to remember (in painful detail) the exact sequence of the whole thing. and it sticks to me forever. no dramatic bullshit.
i can't stand the headaches and other unnamed sicknesses i have inflicted to myself because of this.
and i definitely can't stand the grief its causing me, especially that single one memory that i can never get out of myself 3 years ago. i can surely bet that that's whats causing the most damage going on to me for the past 3 years.

but see, while feeling all this putting down piece of crap, im always thinking that there are many many others who have it in worst then me.
then i hate myself for pitying myself, because i feel i have no right to do so.
then i just hate everything. then it all goes away and im left blank and confused and stupid and i never know what to do after.

oh look, i'm ranting again.
i wanted to write down about full metal alchemist that i finally read and it turned out like this. meh.

ata's package

picked up ata's present for me at aya's place...

holy crap man, thankyouthankyouTHANKYOU!!!!!!!!

and it doesn't stop there: after aya's place we decided to get something to eat, so we contacted wibi and pay (who couldn't make it) and had sate padang across cinere mall, then a&w waffles at cinere mall after. on the way home, we accompanied aya to get some pencils at toko buku kharisma AND GUESS WHAT I FOUND???? :

ALIVE #1-18!!!! COMPLETE!!
*still related to ata, because i introduced her to this series, and she got hooked and bought the whole damn series (early ones were still around at the time). me? oh for the last 5 months only number 16, 17, and 18 were available. i was lucky enough to stumble upon number 9 and 10 one fine day :p.

so i got these three first with hopes the early editions would last long at the store :DDD

i bought the final manga (Indonesian version) of it, and read it with heavy heart dan nyaris berlinang bego gitu. hahahah..

though i've read it 3 times already, it still feels kinda nanggung, the ending was too hurried...but still, i enjoyed it nonetheless :')
hope to see more good works from the mangaka in future
